Maria Carla and her violin

 Maria Carla (violin, vocalist) started music at the  ‘Conservatorio Alejandro Garcia Caturla’ of Havana where  she  spent 7 years studying violin. Then she joined the  ‘Conservatorio Amadeo Roldan’ where she reached the half  superior level in violin. During all those years she has been  part of both schools official orchestras and participated to  many events, festivals, concerts and competitions playing  violin  and singing as a member of the schools chorals. Once  she  graduated, she attended the music teaching program of  Pinar  del Rio province and spent two years teaching music  at the ‘Vocational school of Arts’ in the city of Pinar del Río.  

Since 2010, Maria Carla is part of the Cuban National Symphonic Orchestra while simultaneously collaborating with several classical and popular  music groups like “La Camerata del Son”, “Ensemble Alternativo”, “Orquesta  Panorama” and “Quinteto Doble Sabor”. Maria Carla participated to  numerous events and festivals: Encuentro Nacional de Orquestas Sinfónica,  Feria Internacional Cubadisco, Encuentro de Coros, Festival América Canta,  Festival de Música Contemporánea,  as well as various discs recordings for  renowned artists like José María y Sergio Vitier, Toni Pinelli, Rafael Guedes, Aldo López-Gavilán. She accompanied great soloists like the pianists Lang  Lang, Chucho Valdés, Frank Fernández, Aldo López Gavilán; the solo vocalist Omara  Portuondo, the violinists Ryu Goto, Francesco Manara; the clarinetist Keisuke Wakao and  the guitarist Joaquín Clerch. She also worked under the baton of orchestras’ directors Yoshikazu Fukumura, Marin Alsop and Francesco Belli.
